My Top Seller on Zazzle

My Top Seller on Zazzle

I’ve placed many of my photos on Zazzle products over the last three years. The results are mixed. Actually I have better luck promoting other folks’ designs than I do selling my own.

Lately I’ve been surprised by repeat sales of a wrapping paper I designed. It consists of a pattern of American flags running in stripes across the gift wrap.

Here's my popular gift wrap and some of the competition.

Here’s my popular gift wrap and some of the competition.

When I searched the site for my keywords, “patriotic gift wrap,” mine came up first in the site’s most popular list. Hurrah!

Here’s a better view of it:

I took the photo a few years ago in a Walmart where I noticed a cluster of small flags for sale. It’s a great design for wrapping gifts for someone in the military or for a special occasion gift on the 4th of July, Veteran’s Day or Memorial Day.

Finding the Perfect Card for My Brother

My brother loves going to rod runs in the summer but sure misses his time in the garage fine-tuning his vintage street rods. Since his stroke, he’s not able to do the hands-on work that used to bring him such pleasure.

For Christmas last year, I found a super card on Zazzle that was fun, included a street rod and conveyed my holiday greetings. Now I’ve set a precedent so I can’t just resort to a ho-hum snow scene or a jolly Santa kind of card.

Looking around on Zazzle, I’ve found just the one for Christmas 2014. Not only does it include a hot rod, it was customized just for a brother. The artist had cards for all sorts of combinations like brother and his fiancee, uncle, and so on. If you have a car buff on your list, why not send him or her one of these! Just click the link to see all the variations or customize it with their name.

Here’s the one I found:

Thinking of Custom Christmas Cards?

I love how one can create unique holiday cards using Zazzle or Cafe Press. My sister took a marvelous photo last year of her Maine Coon cat sitting under the Christmas tree. It was such a delightful photo that we turned it into a Christmas card on Zazzle.

Now anyone can order it here:

I must say it turned out lovely. I’ve ordered cards from Zazzle in the past and the quality of the printing and the weight of the paper stock is excellent. Proceeds from the sale go to my sister. She’ll probably spend it on cat food for Olive, her Maine Coon cat.

The Perfect Christmas Card for My Brother

In browsing around on the Zazzle web site, I found a great card for my brother. He’s been a car fancier all his life and gets together with his hot rod friends weekly.

I didn’t want just any old snow scene or Santa to send to him. It seemed like the card should have a car, some humor and some Christmas elements to it to fit his personality and interests.

Here’s what I found. Don’t you think it’s perfect!

I featured this card on a Squidoo web page last year and someone bought 200 of them. Guess there are others who thought it was the perfect card for anyone who loves street rods.

Twin Baby Showers

Nope, I’m not having twins or even having any baby at this point. I do have a web page on Squidoo about Twin Baby Showers. It was one I’d bought and now was updating it.

I found some really cute twin baby shower invitations on Zazzle. Previously I just added a few using Squidoo’s text modules to feature the Zazzle art. Now I use Erich Mangl’s Zazzle to Squidoo tool to feature the Zazzle products.

It sure turned out looking very professional. Take a look at how it featured the eight shower invitations on my web page. If you’d like to use this tool, it’s free. Just click on the Zazzle to Squidoo Tool. You may even be inspired to donate to Erich for his work in developing the tool for our use. There’s a button on the site to donate.

Zazzling

I’ve been dabbling with the site called Zazzle. You can put your photos or artwork on products like mugs, tote bags, aprons, and even dog shirts. Since I often take as many as 50 or 100 photos a day, I’d been wondering what to do with them. This print-on-demand site seems like the perfect solution.

It’s all online, so I don’t have to actually handle the products. I upload my photos, choose the right product, then add some text if I want or a border or other details. The finished product is posted on their online store. I can promote the items however I want, but haven’t done much with that. I don’t want to be a pest to my family and friends.

It was a thrill when the first item sold with my photo on it. Here’s what sold: tote bag from Zazzle

Oops, that’s the wrong thing. It was supposed to be the tote bag with the blue hydrangeas on it. Oh well…    A few days later, someone bought another of the same bag.  Here’s the link to my Zazzle online store so you can see what I’ve been doing.

It so happens that the Squidoo site that I’ve been making lenses (webpages) on is a natural to make promotional pages for Zazzle products. Since I created a batch of shirts, mouse pads, note cards and other things with Solivita images on them, then I made a Solivita Gift Shop on Squidoo. Check it out. It’s been pretty popular and is ranked as my most visited lens. Hopefully all those visitors to the lens will be inspired to return and actually buy something.
